ICK! Why is it that writing one of these sucks big time?

Is it because this is usually what can determine if a publisher even wants to look at the rest of the work? HELL YES!!!

This is the first look at your story the publisher will see and if it doesn't sing in sinks. But how do you know if you have written one that works? Ask a friend, or a CP that has either read or not read your story. If you have someone who has read your story look at it, they already know what the story is about. Someone who has never read it can give you a good vibe as to whether they would want to read the story based on the "NOP" without any other knowledge of the work.

Either way, write it, read it, send it out. Then hold your breath and wait to hear back
